1 The Clueless Groom/Groomsmen

Most guys think the traditional responsibilities of the of the groom and groomsmen (aside from the bachelor party) are:

  •  Show up on time
  •  Handle the rings
  •  Stand where you are told

… and that is true but there are a few more that he may not know :

  • Decide on the officiant
  • Arrange for the marriage license
  • Pack the bags and arrange transportation for the wedding night.

Having a list of all the different formal portraits you want after the ceremony can be a big time saver but having someone designated to collect and help arrange them can be even more important. Ideally this person would know just about everybody in the room and possible not have any other responsibilities. They should also be at the rehearsal so they can get an idea of where everyone will be at the end of the ceremony.

3. Cocktail Hour Entertainment 20130323_204838

A long wait for the party to begin can have an impact on the mood of the reception. During the cocktail hour it is always a good idea to have something going on that helps people to get into the party mood. There are a number of option like live music or having each guest write a personal message that gets put away to be read on milestone anniversaries like 5, 10, and 20. My favorite (because I offer it as a service) is a photo booth. A photo booth is not only fun but it is also an interactive souvenir for each guest and the bride and groom get a copy too.
